Rowling class DT

Rowling class had a fabulous afternoon exploring our new DT topic called Moving Monsters. Within this unit, we are learning all about pneumatics and how air pressure can be used to control movement.

Today, we created a simple pneumatic system using some plastic tubing and syringes. First, we explored how we can connect the syringes and tubing to make it move. Then we worked out how to use each syringe to move up and down. It was amazing!

We had a look at the effect of the different sized syringes. Sometimes, the syringe popped off the end!

After this, we had a go at trying to make paper move up and down. With some masking tape and a piece of card, the children had to investigate how to move it up and down. The whole classroom erupted with cheers when their paper moved!

We can’t wait to design and make our moving monsters now. Well done Rowling class!

Have a great weekend,

Miss Gedney
