Kingfisher poetry

This week, we have been creating poems and artwork based on a Kingfisher.

We started the week by reading a poem about a Kingfisher. The poem created great conversation between the children as they unpicked the different vocabulary used to describe a Kingfisher.

The children showed great enthusiasm when researching to find out more and generating their own vocabulary to describe this bird.

The children then created their own poem about a Kingfisher using all the brilliant vocabulary they generated earlier on in the week.

We also spent time during the week to use water colours to recreate a Kingfisher’s feather.

I have been super impressed by everyone’s enthusiasm and determination this week. Everyone has produced an amazing piece of work and they should be really proud of themselves. What a great start to the new half term!
