Year 3 Rowling- Happy New Year and Romeo and Juliet!

We have had a brilliant first week back to school after our Christmas break! It has been great to see everyone and hear all about the exciting things that everyone got up to over the holidays.

I have been so impressed with how well everyone has returned and got straight back into the swing of things by following classroom routines, working hard and learning lots!

This week, we began looking at our new unit of work on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The children really enjoyed reading the story and asked some amazing questions to deepen their understanding. Over the past couple of lessons, we have been using different drama techniques to explore how Romeo and Juliet might be feeling when they first meet. I have been blown away by the children’s confidence and ideas when completing these drama activities. The children have shown great enthusiasm so far in their learning which has been great to see. We are really looking forward to continuing to learn more about the play over the next few weeks!

Our PE days will continue to be on a Monday and Tuesday.

We no longer have swimming on a Tuesday, so please ensure children come to school wearing their full PE kit on both of these days. At least one of these PE sessions will be outdoors so please make sure that children have a coat with them on these days.

Well done for such a brilliant start back everyone!
