Brilliant first week back in Year 3!

Well done Year 3 for an amazing first week back after the holidays. Everyone has settled straight back into learning very well and has shown great enthusiasm towards the term ahead and all the exciting topics we will be learning this term.

In Maths, we have started our measurements unit. The children enjoyed exploring the Year 3 area and measuring different objects using a metre stick. The children then worked very hard to compare and order these measurements.

In English this week, the children have been creating their own portal stories based on the book ‘Leon and the place between.’ The children have been working extremely hard to use rich vocabulary to make their writing engaging.

We have also started our new topic of plants this week in Science. We started the topic by setting up an investigation into plants. We wanted to investigate what helps plants to thrive. To investigate this, we took 3 plants. One plant we took all the leaves off, one of the plants we took the petals off and the last plant we left alone. All the plants will be getting the same water and sunlight as we already know from our previous learning, plants need these to survive. We are going to investigate this throughout the term.
