Matilda- Smelly Shoes, Seeds and Stories

It’s been a great first week back in Matilda class. We have dived straight back in and started lots of new and exciting topics.

Earlier in the week we started our new History topic, looking at the shoe and boot making industry that helped to grown and transform Northampton into the town we know today. We started this by creating a Shoe Museum, where the children looked at the many different shoes that are produced and guessed who these shoes might belong to, what may they be worn to do, what they thought the shoes were made of and what they liked and disliked about the shoes. It was a fun and hopefully not too smelly time!

In Science we have begun our topic on identifying and naming different types of common plants. The children had great fun planting their own seeds in pots and hopefully over the next few weeks we can watch them grow!

We have been working hard in English this week to create an original short lost and found story based upon the story Rosie’s Hat. The children have planned and innovated fantastic ideas to create their own tales. As a part of our school invention week, the children went down to Simba class and read their stories to the reception children and vice versa. It was great to see so much creativity on display.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and I will see you on Monday!
